I enjoyed this story - definitely a page turner. I'd give it 4 stars for that but for me 4 stars means "extraordinarily good," and it fell short of that. Basically my trouble was with a bit of the fluffy bits, and the relationship between the mother and Claude, which I found hard to buy. Making the different strings of the book seem whole was also not easy. And, in the end, some of it was just too over-the-top for me, including the close, and even considering how the book draws heavily on Hamlet.
Still, it's a good story, and very engaging. I found out halfway through that it's considered a YA book, but I wouldn't categorize it that way.
